AMD Pulls the Plug on Its Affordable Graphics Card Series!

Ana sayfa / News

AMD is pulling the plug on yet another budget-friendly graphics card series. The latest to be discontinued is the AMD RX 6600 series. Reports from China reveal that the company has halted chip production for this series.

It has been reported that AMD has canceled the production of the Radeon RX 6600 RDNA 2 series, which includes the RX 6600, RX 6600 XT, and RX 6650 XT models. According to Chinese sources, AMD will no longer produce chips for these GPU models.

Since its release in mid-2021, the RX 6600 series has become one of AMD’s most popular and affordable options for 1080p gaming. The cards, powered by the Navi 23 GPU, featured 8 GB of VRAM and operated on a 128-bit bus, providing sufficient performance for resolutions up to 1080p.

AMD Ryzen R5 9600X Breaks Processor Record on Launch Day!

The AMD Ryzen R5 9600X processor set a new record by reaching 7 GHz through an overclocking process using liquid nitrogen.

However, it appears that AMD plans to exhaust its remaining stock and cease production of the RX 6600 series. Instead, the company will focus on the next-generation RX 6750 GRE series. The 10GB model of the RX 6750 GRE is expected to replace the RX 6600 series in the market.

While AMD is expected to keep producing the entry-level RX 6500 XT at least until the end of 2024, it seems logical for budget-conscious gamers to consider the RX 7600, based on the RDNA3 architecture, or to upgrade to the RX 6700 series instead of the RX 6600.

Given AMD’s transition to the new RDNA3-based GPU families, the discontinuation of the older RDNA2-based graphics cards comes as no surprise. Despite the success of the RDNA2-based RX 6000 series, AMD has had to phase it out.
